Tomorrow I begin traveling to Uganda with a group of students from Hope College. Amidst my frantic packing, double-checking, and second-guessing, the following are a few thoughts on the upcoming weeks.
First and foremost, I want to say thank you to everyone who has helped make this trip possible - your prayers and donations mean so much! Without your help, I know I wouldn't have been able to go and serve.
Some of you may be wondering how exactly we're planning to serve in Mukono during the next few weeks. I'll have to be honest: I'm not entirely sure! We have basic plans to provide a school with computers and computer training, as well as serve in a medical clinic near Uganda Christian University in Mukono. We've been told that Ugandans (and Africans in general, it seems) have a very relaxed, "go with the flow" perspective on life, and it seems our plans will be treated similarly. However, upon my return I will surely be able to supply you with more details of how we served.
I am definitely anxious as I think about traveling for 24 hours tomorrow and spending two weeks in a completely foreign environment. However, as I mentioned in a previous email, I've been challenged recently to fully trust God in every aspect of my life. I think this trip will be an excellent learning experience in trusting the Lord. Please continue to pray for me and the team that we will gladly learn what God has to teach us through our experiences in Uganda.
I will unlikely have access to the Internet for the next few weeks, so you may not hear from me again until after I've returned. I look forward to posting again - and hopefully with pictures! Feel free to comment or email with questions and I will answer them to the best of my ability the next time I get Internet access.
Thank you again for your prayers! I thank the Lord for you every day.
